The role of English at school

Good morning ladies and gentlemen, first of all let’s us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ for His blessing that we can be together today to study English together. Secondly I would like to thank Mr. Drs. Petrus Mite , our English teacher for his guiding and teaching me so that I can prepare this speech for giving me the time to present my speech.

On this special occasion I would like to present a topic on The Role of English. As we know that English is very important in our lives. English plays a very important role in many aspects of life such as business, study, communication and many more. We, the students of Rajawali, are very lucky because we have a good English teacher who teaches us well and patiently. Because English is needed in every aspect so I think we must study hard and try to master the language as well as possible. On this speech I would like to propose some ideas on how to be good at English. I hope these ideas will help us to master English well and perfectly.

First, we must be active both speaking and writing. How can we be active in speaking? This is easy, as we all know that English is an international language that is used widely in the world. It is better if we can practice speaking English with our friends. We can make groups of students where we can have an English conversation club by doing so we can practice English with each other. Secondly, we can practice at home or outside school by attending English courses. The students who study at English course usually want to improve their English. How to improve our writing skill? It is easy, first we must write as much and often as possible. Chatting on the internet is one way to practice both our writing skill and speaking skill. Of course there are still many other ways to improve our skill. Writing email is another way to improve it so we can do anything concerning our English skill.

Ladies and gentlemen, that’s all for now, I hope that the ideas I presented to you all will be very helpful to all of us and it encourages us to get better and better at English. Thank you very much for the time and attention you give me. God Bless you.
