Good morning ladies and gentlemen, first of all I would like to thank Mr. Drs. Petrus Mite for his guidance and lesson so that I could finish this speech. On this very special occasion I would like to present a topic on the advantage of studying abroad.

It has been quite common that many Indonesian students continue their study after graduating from their high school. They have many choices of destination as places to study such as Singapore, Australia, and America even to some European countries such as United Kingdom and Switzerland. For those who are intelligent and financially strong studying abroad is very advantageous. They have many reasons for studying abroad. While for those who are not fortunate they may apply for scholarship or financial support from the foreign foundations such as Ford Foundation or governments. The following are some common reasons why some students decide to further their study abroad.

The first reason is that they can learn to be independent. As we all know studying abroad means that they have to live separately from their parents. They have to take care of everything by themselves from the food they eat, the transport and accommodation to their education. This will train them to be very independent. In some cases students who study abroad will have to make a very crucial decision on some problems such as when they have sickness or health problems they have to decide which doctor to see and what medicine to take.

The second reason is that studying abroad will open the new horizon and give them new experience. Experience is the best teacher as the proverb says. So it is very valuable things for the students for they will experience something that they will not find in their country. The experience, such as making friends with people from different countries is rare to find. They will build a strong relationship which will be useful for them in their future especially in business world.

The third reason is that studying abroad is a mean of mastering foreign language. As we know, we are very lucky that we have a teacher that has this experience. He has been to Australia and learnt English there so he is an experienced teacher. His English is incomparable as other teachers do not have this expensive experience.
